"…He Wrote Good Songs"

"…He Wrote Good Songs", Stage 72 • Triad Theatre, New York City, NY

Starting its life at the 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival, HE WROTE GOOD SONGS is the story of Anthony Newley, the British actor, singer, song-writer, director, who created songs like GOLDFINGER, WHAT KIND OF FOOL AM I?, WHO CAN I TURN TO?, GONNA BUILD A MOUNTAIN, CANDY MAN.

His turbulent life, his many loves, the highs, lows, the desperation of a man innately wise to the charade that is show business - a man possessed with too many talents.

Written and performed by Jon Peterson, veteran of many Broadway and West End shows, HE WROTE GOOD SONGS includes twenty of Newley’s incredible songs driving home this tale of a man inspired, a show business legend.

“...His body - in continual motion, mind and emotional instruments are channeled into Newley all the way. Songs were well-chosen and the writing is funny with intensely dramatic moments, and ... Peterson savors every single one of them. Like Newley before him he possesses a genius.” ~ Don Grigware, Broadway World
